"Hi everybody Gary Proudlock here! I have lived and fished in Northumberland all of my life. In the beginning I used to use split cane, green heart and Hardy Rods and sometimes still do. I have also progressed through all of the fashions up to today's high tech carbon fibre offerings.

In that time I have learned that it is not the tools but the person who catches the fish. It is about observation, technique and about having an enquiring mind. If you are an absolute beginner I will teach you the basics of this absorbing hobby. For the more experienced angler I can help you get that extra bit of distance or learn a new technique.

Women in my experience learn to fly fish very quickly and I find it refreshing to see more women taking up the sport.

I prefer to give lessons in the grounds of Otterburn Tower where I have access to their three and a half miles of the River Rede. Whilst there you can avail yourself of the excellent meals available in the hotel. However, if required I am available for private sessions at a location to suit you.
